Montreal, November 3, 2025 – The Douglas Foundation is proud to announce its partnership with Maripier Morin as part of the Building Hope campaign, an initiative aimed at mobilizing the public around an urgent cause: mental health research.
The goal is to raise $500,000 to advance our understanding of the human brain and develop promising solutions for all those affected by mental illness.
Today, one out of three Canadians will be confronted by a mental health disorder in their lifetime. Yet only 6.3% of the national budget is devoted to mental health care and barely 5% to research. Faced with this reality, it is high time to take action.
Recognized worldwide for the excellence of its research, care, and teaching, the Douglas Foundation is the organization best equipped to advance science and transform the lives of thousands of people every year.
A personal and sincere commitment
Maripier Morin is committed to this campaign for a deeply personal reason: to support research not only in honor of her brother Raphaël, but also for herself and for all families living with the realities of mental illness. Driven by courage and a desire for change, she lends her voice to this essential cause to break taboos and inspire solidarity.
“We cannot change what we do not understand. I am committed to the Douglas Foundation because mental health research is essential to developing our understanding of the brain, improving existing therapeutic approaches, and building hope for all those whose lives have been disrupted by mental illness.”
