Douglas BBQ: A record $500,000 raised at our third annual event
On September 15, our community gathered on the grounds of the Douglas Institute for the third annual Douglas BBQ. Together, we raised an incredible $500,000 for mental health research, setting a new record for the event!
Under a large marquee, guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Hoogan et Beaufort. With the grills fired up, music playing, and conversations flowing, there was plenty to celebrate.
The evening was also a chance to reflect on what brings us together: a shared commitment to advancing mental health research and improving the lives of people affected by mental illness.
Dr. Simon Ducharme took the stage to introduce the Cognitive Health and Prevention Clinic, while Trevor Aune shared a moving personal story. Their words reminded us why we come together and why supporting the Douglas’ mission matters.
This success would not have been possible without the generosity and dedication of our community. Our heartfelt thanks go to our organizing committee, our lively host Julia Grandoni, and Alexis Gerbeau, Head of Manulife Quebec and Chief Financial Officer, Manulife Canada, who represented Manulife, the Douglas BBQ’s lead presenting sponsor for the second consecutive year.
To all our guests, partners, and volunteers: thank you for making this evening so special and helping us reach this remarkable milestone for mental health research.
Grill. Chill. Give Back. Thanks to you, these words truly came to life.
