Douglas Foundation Welcomes Three New Members to Its Board of Trustees
The Douglas Foundation is pleased to welcome Laurence L’Abbé, Jaime Freyre de Andrade, and Werner Muelhemann to its Board of Trustees.
Recognized for their remarkable careers and leadership in their respective fields of law, finance, and large-scale project management, they will help advance the Foundation’s mission and promote research and care in mental health.
Their appointment to the board reflects the commitment of a diverse and influential group of individuals to making mental health research and care a priority in our society.

Laurence L’Abbé
Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary, Dollarama
An accomplished business lawyer, Laurence L’Abbé has built an impressive career across several leading Canadian organizations. Since 2022, she has served as Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary at Dollarama. Previously, she held leadership roles at Lion Electric and at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), where she contributed to major investment and governance initiatives.

Jaime Freyre de Andrade
Chief Operating Officer, Civil, Infrastructure and Major Projects, Pomerleau
With more than 20 years of experience in infrastructure and major projects, Jaime Freyre de Andrade is recognized for his collaborative leadership style and his ability to deliver complex, large-scale initiatives. Before joining Pomerleau, he played a key role in the development of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM), one of Canada’s largest public transit projects.

Werner Muelhemann
Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Intact Investment Management
Werner Muelhemann brings more than 25 years of experience in the financial sector. As Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Intact Investment Management, he oversees investment strategies, investment operations, and corporate development initiatives.
