The Fondation Douglas is proud to announce a significant commitment from\u00a0Manulife Canada, which is investing $1 million over four years to support an innovative initiative in cognitive health.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This funding will help advance the Douglas Cognitive Health and Prevention Clinic, the first clinic in\u00a0the\u00a0Quebec\u00a0public health network\u00a0dedicated to personalized dementia prevention.\u00a0The clinic\u00a0is\u00a0lead\u00a0by researcher and\u00a0psychiatrist, Dr. Simon Ducharme.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\n\n\t\t

Acting earlier to change trajectories<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today,\u00a0nearly 600,000\u00a0Canadians are living with dementia, a number projected to reach 1.7 million by 2050. In this context, prevention has become essential.\u00a0While comprehensive personalized intervention\u00a0procotols\u00a0exist, they are only offered at\u00a0a high cost\u00a0in private clinics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Douglas Clinic therefore offers an alternative: adapting these approaches to the public system through a deliberately streamlined, targeted model focused on the most effective interventions,\u00a0in order to\u00a0make prevention accessible on a large scale.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through a comprehensive assessment, including health, lifestyle, and even genetic\u00a0risk\u00a0factors, each patient receives a personalized prevention plan based on the best available scientific evidence.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A science-driven, human-centered approach<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hosted within the Douglas\u00a0Institute, the Clinic is supported by a world-class research ecosystem.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It works closely with the Centre for Studies on the Prevention of Alzheimer\u2019s Disease (StoP-AD)<\/a>, directly connecting scientific discoveries with patient care.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This approach enables the testing and validation of concrete interventions such as cardiovascular risk management, tailored physical activity, nutritional support, cognitive stimulation, and sleep optimization.\u00a0The goal is to\u00a0identify\u00a0the most decisive factors for\u00a0each individual,\u00a0in order to\u00a0provide care that is both targeted and effective.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Simple actions, but when combined and personalized, can have a powerful impact.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
